5 year BraveHeart Legion! 😃
What an ride it was to get to this point!
5 years ago i was sitting on my computer room in the weekend and build my first Enemy-Territory server on a crapy computer and bad connection adsl 200kb.
I came on the idea to create my own server becuz i could not become a member from an community becuz i didnt play enough....i was only there in the weekends, becuz i was a truck driver back then.
So i thought what they can... i can do better!
A dedicated server was bought in germany and in the years we have had 6 dedicated servers, at 1 point we even had 2.
Nowadays we have an dedicated server in amsterdam and it seems to be an good location, as pings are good fromall over the world.
Right from the start it was clear to me that i wanted BraveHeart to be an fairplay server where friends can have an good time with eachother.
So we directly got a name in the ET community "the server where you cant play becuz of kicks" almost every1 who visited us got kicked by PB or by me, becuz of cheats/scripts/unfair behavior.
Back then cheating was a realy big issue as pb was not as good as it is today.
But even with the kicks we got some players who didnt got kicked and could appreciate my vision on the game.
More and more came to BraveHeart and a new community was born.
Even today we have players who are still active and joined in dec 2005!
Ofcourse during the 5 year we have had ups and downs, we saw good people come and we saw them go again.
Some started an own community thinking they could do better... well where are they now?
Backstabbing recruting cheating we saw it al and at times it was hard to deal with, as some people where seen as friends.
Ofcourse during the 5 year period we now know, that such things happen and its an normal thing, it seems to have an yearly cycle and we are no longer upset when these things happen.
Its sad to see friends go but each time we came back and got new members who became friends.
I guess we can say that from each year some people are still around and we can call them friends.
These friends dont leave when others do and are loyal to BraveHeart, and we are glad to have them.
Friendships..... i can say from personal experiance that i made some real friends in the 5 year BraveHeart, we even see them in real life.
After building BH for 2 years we came with an idea.... and this idea got people exited.... the BraveHeart Meeting!
The first meeting was in tolbert in an nice ambiance, and was an big succes, but hé what was it scary in the beginning to meet all members in real life.
From then on we now have yearly an BraveHeart meeting and people already get exited months before the meeting!
And thats what makes BraveHeart strong... the people, people willing to support and even meet eachoter.
Meetings are good for the community feeling and 80% comes back each year to the meeting.
We have tried to be an fair server server over the years and as it goes being an fair server has also its ups and downs.
When i look at myself there where period that i could not and would not play, becuz of study/work or just no fun for a while.
More people had that and then without an steady adminteam fairplay is hard to maintain.
Also people change over the years, some players where realy nice and fair when they came into BraveHeart but chanced in time and sometimes needed to be removed from the Legion..
And the strange thing is.....they (almost) all want to comeback after an while....
For some the doors where open again and got new chances and for some the BH door stayed closed.
So we must be doing something right when people say: there is just not an server like BraveHeart out there, and i want to comeback.
For the future there are some plans with BraveHeart and you will hear them in 2011.
There will be some changes as Enemy-Territory is(sadly) an dying game.
As BraveHeart we will do everything to keep the game alive, but it al starts with people.... active people.
I have made many campaigns over the years, and a new 1 is being made right now for the party at 18-12-2010.
I wanne say a big thanks to all the admins,members,players that we had over the last 5 years, without you all it would not be possible to get this age!
I did my work for BraveHeart with much fun, and i hope i can keep doing it for an other 5 years.
