For errors:

First open your task-manager * and look if the punkbusterA and B services runs. If yes, look here ->
Make sure that you have the standart ET settings and your port from the router is open for ET.
The files which belongs to the errors in windows are here (sometimes):

dont change them! Dont delete them!

The service PnkBstrA.exe runs directly after the systemstart and works directly and meanly to update the PnkBstrB.exe services and the Kerneldrivers PnkBstrK.sys. PnkBstrB.exe works first and only after you had started a punkbuster game.
For solving your problem, you have to make sure, that BOTH services runs for in- and outgoing travel in your firewall. (Perhaps you have to do this too in your virusdefenderprogramm (sometimes there its needed too)
For updating pb if needed:
Start the game, goto BH1, when connected open ^ console and look first what there is written (in blue letters) about punkbuster.
After a few seconds punkbuster try to enable.
then type this in console:
first:  \pb_cl_enable  (should be enabled, enables punkbuster for game)
second: \pb_sv_enable   ]
                       ]-> is for servers, but you will get the codes too
third:  \pb_sv_update     ]
If you dont have enough time to type it in before it crash,
update punkbuster manual.
It can be needed to new install pb with the pb.exe programm, because of other reasons your pbservices are corrupted in your registry. For this you have to deinstall them and install them new (NOT ONLY DELETE THEM !!!). herefore ther is a programm from evenbalance. But dont do this. Only when other things we try first dont work.
* NOTE: You have to look in you taskmanager, because the 2 services have to run! Without, you cant play ET. If they dont run write it again here!!!!!!!!
