Changes in tech trees...

As a result of the community's valued feedback and our desire to provide all players with an improved overall game balance, World of Tanks team is glad to announce the planned revisions of the tech trees. The whole process of amending existing tech trees is rather time-consuming, and will be completed gradually, update after update.

Some of the changes are going to affect players’ progress directly. That’s why we want them to occur as smoothly as possible.



Revised Tech Trees

Germany Tech Tree
USA Tech Tree
USSR Tech Tree

The transition procedure will be handled in the following way:



1. Germany Tech Tree


• Introduction of E-50.

Players who have a Panther II in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with an E-50 with the respective module setup (top engine will be changed for HL295 or added as a new one), keeping their progress and old crew.

Players who have a Pz. V Panther in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a Panther II with the respective module setup (and 7.5 cm KwK 45 L/100 gun), keeping their progress and old crew, plus they will get a tier 7 Pz. V Panther with a stock setup, an extra garage slot, and a 100% crew.

No additional refunds are planned.


• Introduction of ?-75 and ?-100.

Undistributed experience from elite Tiger will be transferred to King Tiger.

No additional refunds are planned.



2. USA Tech Tree



• M26 Pershing will be substituted for M46 Patton. T23 will be substituted for M26 Pershing.

Players who have a M26 Pershing in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a M46 Patton, with the respective module setup (possibly with some renaming) keeping their progress and old crew.

Players who have a T23 in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a M26 Pershing in its new status, with the respective module setup (possibly with some renaming) keeping their progress and old crew.

No additional refunds are planned.



• T34 will be substituted for M103.

Players who have a T34 in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a M103 with the respective module setup and a 100% crew.

Additionally they will also get a T34 as a premium tank with the old crew and an extra garage slot.

No additional refunds are planned.



• T30 will be substituted for T110 and T30 will be moved to the Tank Destroyers line of the tech tree.

Players who have a T30 in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a T110 with a 100% crew, plus they will also get T30 in its new status with the top module setup, old crew, and an extra garage slot.

No additional refunds are planned.



3. USSR Tech Tree



• KV will be separated into KV-1 and KV-2.
Players who have a KV in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a KV-1. The KV’s crew will be trained for the KV-1.

Additionally players who have researched KV-2’s turret for KV will get a KV-2 with an extra garage slot and the KV-2 will be assigned a 100% crew.

Undistributed experience from KV can be transferred to either KV-2 or to KV-1 on demand.

No additional refunds are planned.



• KV-3 moved to tier 7 and the introduction of T-150.

Players who have a KV-3 in their garage at the time of the revision will get a KV-3 in its new status with its existing module and research setup and its old crew. Additionally they will also get a T-150 with a stock setup, extra garage slot, and 100% crew.

No additional refunds are planned.



• IS-4 will be substituted for Object 252.

Players who have an IS-4 in their garage at the time of the revision will get an IS-4 in its new status with old crew, plus they will also get an Object 252 with 100% crew with an extra garage slot. Undistributed experience will remain on Object 252, however can be transferred to a new IS-4 on demand.

No additional refunds are planned.


Draft Procedure of module substitution for IS-4:

If a player had IS-4’s engine researched, the same engine will be researched for both the new IS-4 and Object 252 (or the analogue of this engine if changed).

Radios, turrets, and suspensions will be treated in the same way. IS-4 and Object 252 will have the same modules installed as those previously mounted on old IS-4 or their analogues if changed. Guns, if changed, are likely to be treated in the same way.



All disputable issues will be solved for benefit of players.

Note: Installed equipment and modules in depot for the vehicles affected by the revisions will be sold at their buying price. Some minor changes are still possible but overall concept will remain untouched.

BIG changes it seems....

I think that the new tech trees look great. An interesting range of new tanks to try out.

They've also been very generous. I'll be getting 2 new tanks plus 2 new garage slots for free.

Plus I'll be able to get to the T54 line from my KV-1 without having to go through the crappy BT-7, A-20, T34's.

I like the new tech trees. I hope the update comes soon. Looks very interesting.
With my VK3002 i can get Panther and Tiger then.
And i think a bigger amount of tanks is good for gameplay an brings new change into it. I'm looking forward to it.

only positive for me is that i can get the tiger then.... on my sovjet line i have no luck.
but in general the change is nice, more tanks to choose from 😃

its boring to fight always against 3-4 is3 or is4 tanks, i hope after this upadate you can see more different tanks on the battlefield. 😉

I've only read as far as page 16 of this thread. From that it seems that there's no definite date yet and that the changes will be phased in, starting with the USA. Sounds like it's at least a few weeks before the changes will start.

I probably won't have enough time to play the 1000 battles in my KV's to get the 5 million credits I'll need to get to IS-4 via IS and IS-3, which is a shame as it would be nice to get a third free tank.

O: The Americans gave up that silly idea and stopped developing heavies. They will have only one tier 10 heavy.

O: T30 as a TD with rotating turret is going to be a beast. It's a decent compensation for the lack of the 2nd tier 10 heavy.

Para: Excellent, since I'm starting to go down the US med tree anyway. But you didn't mention the French - I guess they will arrive before the Patton?
O: No, French tree comes after most of these changes, if not all of them.

BlackHawkPL: quick question, DO we have to keep those tanks (like kv) to get other ones? or just sell them?
O: Keep them. Of course.

Virtus: What about the statistics. For example lets say I have Panther, will my tank after those changes keep its statistics like wins, kills or they will be wiped?
O: Stats will be kept.

mmarian25: Apart from moving is4 to tier 10, there will be also some changes in it's parameters? : armor, gun, hit points? I agree that is4 is a good tank but in current condition it cant compete with a mouse.
O: Yes, there will be multiple changes. Not only for IS-4.

Thor_Hammerschlag: Will the StuG E100 be implemented with the E-series?
O: It will be added later.

ArmorShark7: Is the JagdPanther II a JagdPanther with a rear-mounted superstructure? Is it based on the original Panther chassis or the E-50's?
O: It is based on E50's chassis.

Is the STUG E-100 going to be armed with a 150 mm gun like the E-100? Given its weight, will it play like the American T95? Will the M103 and T110 be able to mount 120 mm and 155 mm guns like the current top tier USA heavies? Will the SU-122-54 also be armed with a 122mm gun and not with the BL-10?
O: The exact module setups are unknown yet.

ArmorShark7: Will the turreted tank destroyers be able to mount upgradeable turrets like tanks do?
O: Most likely - no.

ArmorShark7: Is the T25-2 a turreted TD based on the T25 medium tank?
O: Yes.

ArmorShark7: Since the T95 GMC is the real thing, and the T28 GMC is a TD your team of tank experts designed, what is this "T28 (prototype)" on the T30 line? Is it some sort of turreted predecessor of the T29 series of heavy tanks?
O: T28 prototype is probably the weakest part of the US tech tree from the point of historical accuracy, it is 90% our invention.

ArmorShark7: Will the Tier X IS-4 be armed with the 122mm BL-9 and no longer be able to mount the IS-7's gun?
O: Most likely it will get an improved 122mm.

Stubentiger: German E50 (Medium Tier 9): Please tell us a rough time frame for introduction: July 2011 - earlier or later? Patch 0.7 or later?
O: v.0.6.4 - mid May, v.0.6.5 with US TDs and Patton - June-July, v.0.7 with E-series and Porsche tanks - July-August. Everything is very rough here, apart from 0.6.4.

Stubentiger: PzKpfw 38H735(f): Due to its nerf in 0.6.4, the Russian customers who own it will get some refund. Do you plan also this for EU customers?
O: If it is nerfed as planned the tank will be purshased back from players, crews and modules will be fefunded.

Stubentiger: Premium Accounts: Do you plan to add longer than 1 month discount packages, e.g. a "3 months Premium Account" for 5.000 Gold? I hope so.
O: Quite possible.

chuckie495: Will the buff for pershing accuracy on move apply for the new pershing on t8 aswell?
O: Pershing will see several other adjustments when he is moved to tier 8.

Haineko: I just noticed that the M18 90mm has been removed on the new revised tech trees. Why is that, and also, will we still get the 90mm as an upgrade for the M18?
O: Yes, it will be one vehicle with an upgrade.

HrD: Which tanks, not yet released in a patch, have already been modelled ? which ones are currently modelled ? and finally, which ones will be next ? (not asking which nation tech tree comes next)
O: US TDs, Patton, many French tanks.

bfheroes89: Will the E100 look like the one on the attached picture? If you have no permission to give such information just please write it down I'm grinding german heavies just for this baby and really looking forward for confirmation. It simply is beautiful
O: The chassis seems to be correct, but this turret won't be available. It will have Maus and Krupp turrets.

dezix: Will KV-1 and KV-2 have turret upgrade after the revision? And if yes, then what? Since KV's upg turret is KV-2. Also, how will you kludge the big guns for KV-1 to the KV if it have no turret upg?
Vallter: The gun will be passed to KV-2. May be some new gun will be introduced for it.
Also tanks will get their major rebalance in 0.6.4 in two weeks. Generally Germans will receive some buffing

dezix: Thanks for the answer, also can you tell me if the 0.6.4. patch will contain theese changes? Or what time we have to wait for this revision? Days, weeks, months?
V: Months. But in June-July we will add US TD line and something else.-) 0.6.4 will contain Tier 8 artillery, Lowe, KV-5 and some other tanks.

Question: I just bought is7, but sold is4, and there it sais that if i will have an is4 in garage i will recive object 252, so i have to have is4 in garage to get 252 or it is enugh that i have it reserched?
V: No, you need to have it in your garage.

Beaverous: News article uses wording "with the respective module setup" mostly, but it's probably safe to assume equipments are included as well? Into what tank they'll end up in? Let's say IS-4 change, will the equipment stay in IS-4 (the new T10 version) or in the new T9 replacement tank? Or will the equipment end up into depot and we can choose the tank for them?
V: We will save them, if possible. Still, you will be warned about this changes before the patch and after the 0.6.4 you will be able to unmount locked equipment paying 10 gold.

MrKatana: Also this situation should be within german TDs, for example, player who has JagdPz IV and would want StuG E-100 would have to go back. Players with german TD should be given respective TD from the other tree line which will be added.
V:To obtain a Jagdpanzer IV they had to research Stug III first. So they do not go back, they will just have to research another TD before proceeding (Dickermax)

MrCaffeLatte: if a tank such as the T30 is transferred to the TD tree, do owners of that tank get every previous module required for it researched, effectively giving them access to every preceding tank in the tree?
V: No, they won't have previous TD's researched. May be just some modules.

mascotzel: Clarify the "extra-slot" received with some tanks , I see a lot of people that think it's new tank (takes 1 slot) + old tank(takes 1 slot)+ 1 free slot, I think it truly is new tank (takes 1 slot) + old tank(takes 1 slot, and this is the gift slot)
V: There will be only one free slot, which will be occupied by the new (old) tank.

mascotzel: You grind XP through tank A to get to tank B, tree shifts, what happends to the XP gathered?
V: It will remain on the tank A, if the experience refund is not planned. Otherwise it will be transferred on the user's request.

mascotzel: You grind XP through tank A & research tank B (no buy yet), tree shifts, what happends with the tank already researched and with the tank that takes it's place in the tree?
V: You will have both tank researched with the Tank B in the new status.

mascotzel: What exactly tanks & branches will we see (for example Ferdi which exists now will be shifted to a branch that isn't ready yet, it dissapear's ? the new branch appears ? stays alone there and doesn't lead to anything ? )...will they appear with these changes?
V: The changes will be done only with adding of the new tanks.

Question: In the new tree Ferdi shifts to the left branch of TD and it's place is taken by Jpanther2. It's not mentioned what happends then (like when IS4 shifts in another branch and gets replaced). I guess it's not planed very soon and WG will make the announcements then.
V: Yes, we will announce something before it's implementation. Still adding all new tanks will cost a lot of time and changes are possible.
