This months PC gamer magazine has some World-of give-aways including an introductory code for the Closed Beta version of World of Warplanes.
I started downloading the game 10 hours ago. It's up to 80% now. So it could be "Chocks away!" in 3 hours time.
I won't be able to play it properly until I come back from 2 weeks holiday.
Has anyone else played World of Warplanes yet? And if so, what do you think of it?
Yes, I played it also in Alpha Stage.
Now I'm back to WoT and can't get myself on WoWP anymore. Don't know, it gives good adrenaline but when you got someone on your tail who has a bit experience with the game you don't get him off anymore and you will get shot down if no aid comes from your teammates.
Tip: get a BF109 (German, it owns).
Tip: get as much altitude as possible and dive to the tail of an enemy. Don't overshoot.
It's a fun game but I don't know. It has lost my attention after a while.
do game controllers work for this?
yes, they do
I've played about 30 battles of WoW. Can't get on with it. Main problem is controlling the plane with mouse and keyboard.
Can't get it to do what I want. Spend all battle battling with the mouse and keyboard trying to go where I want whils avoiding crashing into the scenery.
All the battle are at ridiculously low altitude. Almost as if there's a glsss ceiling on it.
Maps seem stupidly small too - especially when you get to the 1000kmh planes.
Haven't shot down a single plane. I might get a few lucky hits in each battle but that's about it.
Destroyed 1 by ramming it. I got killed too.
Destroyed 1 or 2 ground targets, but that seems a pointless thing to do as someone just gets on my tail and shoots me down.
Can't get on the tail of any other planes whilst they get on my tail and then I can't shake them off.
I've researched better guns etc but don't know if they're fitted or not, or how to buy them if I have to.
Gameplay seem highly repetitive as there's no scenery to hide behind unlike ET or WoT.
I know it's only closed Beta but, I'm not sure what they can do to sort out the fundamental flaws?
This game makes my right arm ache from trying to control the plane with the mouse. I much prefer the sedate game play of WoT and the fast paced fun of ET and the easier control interface of both games: keyboard to move, mouse to aim. World of Battleships will probably be more my cup of tea - although I guess most of the maps will be artificially around some island archipeligo.
I predict that WoWp won't attract as big a player base as WoT.
i personally gave up with with mouse/keyboeard and using a game pad besides the learning curve is to steep aswell as the fact to get the experience to use it takes to long and is even steeper
Lin3: try to adjust your sensitivity of the mouse. You will control the plane better then.
I put the sensitivity right down which helped, but then found myself making large desperate mouse movements when I wanted to turn quickly.
World of Tanks is not fussy about how sensitive your mouse settings are.
