Seems lots of players we're getting kicked last night after the recent update to the PBclient and the kicks were probibly tirggered by the new setting going live on the master server as we all started geting kicked simultaneously around 00:00 but we had alll updated our clients at differnt times or days over the last week ...
It was really annoying lastnight as the kicks appeared every few minuets and with differnt reasons each time for the kick, infact I could even predict when I was going to be kicked ...
Having run PBsetup.EXE (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php) and pbweb.exe (from the drive:/gamename/pb install folder) a few times to no avail, I figured I'd go to www.evenbalance.com to see if any reports about it or problems had been posted and I found nothing, however I did check the update section to see what was actually new? Aperently since the latests update "😜unkbuster Services" in WIn2kXPVista are now mandatory and required to be activly installed and running. I did notice I had the services already running on my system but this page also lead me to Services FAQ (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php) which was very inforimative and to PBsvc.exe (a utility for installing/reinstalling or uninstalling the services)
Dont run this utility while you have a punkbuster enabled game running or you will get kicked with a service communication error (I seen someone get this message today and though it strange as I never seen it before but it's dawning on me now why and how they were getting it and what they were doing).
OK ...
Run > PBsvc.exe > Select > Install (Reinstall) >
The installer does alot of work seting up services ... On completion > Next > Test Installation >
Installion tests are very through and lets you know how punkbuster esentially works, it reports all states of the punkbuster system ... On completion (Without Errors) > Finish >
Now run PBsetup.exe and update your game in the usual manner to be sure your updated ...
You may also run pbweb.exe from yourgamefolder/pb/pbweb.exe to clean-up any unecessary files ...

I still have problems .... I need a new MIC for one :? and ummm, the server has stalled, what, again? 🙄 ... I know they just love my long long long topics round here 😉 ... Anyhow I wanna give BIG thanks to Blue for putting on a new rotation of maps, some were actually getting on my nervers and others were just to hard to attack ...
